The Directory project is a volunteer effort by members of the engineering technology education community. It is designed to meet a need for information about engineering technology institutions and programs in the United States. The costs of the Directory over the years have been underwritten by the Engineering Technology Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Developmental efforts have been managed by Frank Gourley, former Chair of the Publications Committee of the Engineering Technology Council of ASEE.
Thanks are due to the large number of people who have responded to the requests to update contact and program information for the institutions where they were employed. Thanks are due also to WVU Institute of Technology and several people there. Sarah Morris, Division Secretary, Engineering Technology/Industrial Technology, provided assistance in updating the information for the Directories in 1992, 1994, and 1996. The on-line Directory website was originally created in 2002 by Allen Butcher and Ron Whitt, B.S. Electronic Engineering Technology students as a Senior Seminar project. Minor revisions were made in 2004 by Dennis Dunbar, then faculty member in the Computer & Information Technology program of the Division. The 2006-07 on-line Directory website was developed as a searchable, updateable database by Kel Cecil, Computer Science student in the College of Engineering at WVU Tech. The Directory has been unavailable for the last several years due to technical difficulties. It was reactivated in 2016 with the assistance of Charles Amey, Applications Programmer, IT Department, WVU Tech.
